Call of Duty: Warzone continues to be the most popular battle royale shooter out there, but the game gets repetitive since it takes long to win. It seems the devs at Raven Software are aware of this, as the company said next week’s major update will introduce a new way to win.
Normally, players will have to outlast and kill everyone to win, which can take a long time, due to the large maps. Thankfully, more winning options are coming, as Raven Software is introducing Covert Exfil, an unconventional way to gain victory in this shooter.
According to GameSpot, Call of Duty: Warzone players will have to purchase the Covert Exfil from buy stations before the Gulag closes and the game starts. Successfully using the Covert Exfil will lead to a helicopter rescuing the player and giving them a unique win from the usual way.
Raven Software did make sure to say that winning like this doesn’t count as a traditional win and it won’t help with your Champion’s Quest progress. However, winning via the Covert Exfil will count as a separate stat, as there are plans to add a new leadership board that involves winning through this method.
This is an interesting way to keep Call of Duty: Warzone alive, as the battle royale genre is getting a bit tired for some. Still, people do enjoy the gameplay from Activision’s signature CoD franchise, so freshening up that formula will gain some goodwill from fans. It will be interesting to see the overall fan reaction to this new method since new strategies aren’t always welcomed at first.
Warzone is still a viable game to play these days, especially when compared to the car crash that’s Modern Warfare 3. Having a cheap death and a short single-player campaign that reuses multiplayer maps is atrocious, hence, the game’s poor reception.
