The March 6 Xbox Partner Showcase had some interesting news for Game Pass subscribers and Capcom fans, as it was confirmed the upcoming Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is releasing later this year and coming to console and PC Game Pass day one.

The gameplay for Path of the Goddess was shown with a three-minute trailer showcasing how players will interact with the Japanese-inspired world.

A follow-up blog post also gave more detailed information about the gameplay loop.

Taking control of protagonist Soh, a skilled swordmaster, players will have to help Yoshiro, a Maiden with divine powers, to purge and cleanse the villages around Mt. Kafuku that have been defiled by an evil presence that's taken over the entire region.

The game is a blend of action-focused titles with a mix of real-time strategy games, as not only your prowess to come up with slick combos as Soh will be put to the test but also your brain to come up with strategies to protect villages and Yoshiro.

Path of the Goddess is looking like a unique experience

Path of the Goddess gameplay loop revolves around two key things - during the day, you'll have time to explore villages, purge defilements, repair contraptions, and rescue villagers that can aid in battle. At night, once all you're preparations are complete, you'll have to help Yoshiro purge a Torii gate to keep The Seethe at bay.

Capcom has been working with Xbox closely and Path of the Goddess coming to Game Pass is more proof of it. Last year, third-person shooter Exoprimal launched day one of the subscription service.

Naturally, big AAA releases such as Resident Evil 4 Remake or Street Fighter 6 aren't in the service (at least day one, since Resident Evil 2 Remake is currently available), but the Japanese developer is keen on giving their smaller titles a chance via Game Pass.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess will release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, including a day one release on Game Pass, at some point in 2024.
