If you have started gaming in LAN cafes around the late 2000s, you probably heard about the game Crossfire. It had several FPS competitors such as Counter-Strike and many others but Crossfire was considered to be the pioneer in first-person shooter games.

Now esports in modern gaming is having a resurgence again thanks to the Esports World Cup, Crossfire is set to come back again as it becomes one of the highly anticipated titles in the most prestigious esports tournament in the world.

Crossfire's developer Smilegate Entertainment announced a three-year partnership with the Esports World Cup Federation, bringing the highly popular FPS game into the world. The first-person shooter game has spawned different media franchises such as a film adaptation and a television series, but it's going to go harder on its esports aspects as it prepares for the global stage.

While there have been other popular shooter titles such as Call of Duty, Valorant, and the recently released Marvel Rivals, Crossfire has maintained a steady audience throughout for more than a decade. Its esports league, Crossfire Stars, has just recently celebrated its 10th anniversary last 2023.

Now that Crossfire is stepping into a bigger and brighter stage, Smilegate Entertainment is excited to bring the classic shooter to a new generation of gamers.
