Fans were pleasantly surprised to see Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition appear on the Switch 2 Direct, with that surprise turning to excitement when it was announced as a launch game. Since then, previews of the game running on Nintendo’s new machine have been shown, revealing a decent 40 FPS in handheld mode.
It turns out that the final release might be better, as reports have since stated that this was a build made in seven weeks for the new hardware. Gene Park of The Washington Post has confirmed the report but noted that it still ran well. Park also said the game ran better on Switch 2 than Steam Deck, which should get people talking.
Cyberpunk 2077 runs decently on Steam Deck, though most gamers can only get it to run at around 30 FPS. That’s a pretty playable experience, but fans would rather have it be stronger, and it looks like they’re getting that power on Switch 2. It helps that this is a build made for Nintendo’s machine, while Cyberpunk on Steam Deck is more optimized for PCs.
Now that this game has been updated to hell and back, there’s no doubt that Switch 2 owners are going to get an incredible open-world RPG during the system’s launch. Fans will remember some of the horror stories surrounding this game’s original release, so it’s good that CD Projekt Red kept improving this game.
As the name implies, fans are going to get the Ultimate Edition of Cyberpunk 2077 when it comes out on Switch 2 this June. This version of the game will have all of the gameplay tweaks that garnered acclaim from fans and critics alike. It will also come with the haunting Phantom Liberty expansion, which is still breaking the hearts of fans to this day.
It’s fair to say that the final release of Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2 will have more than 7 weeks of development. Fans who want a Switch 2 should consider using this link to try their luck at pre-ordering the new system.
