Cyberpunk 2077 - Mod makes Night City’s advertisements a bit less graphic

While Cyberpunk 2077 endured a difficult lifespan following its 2020 release, things are finally looking up for the Keanu Reeves friendship simulator, with the Edgerunners anime and the announcement of a sequel convincing many to give it another chance.

A barrage of mods has been helping to make the Night City experience more interesting than ever before for these new and returning players. Mods bring everything from apartment-dwelling cats to killer takedowns and tradable stocks to the game.

But now, a new mod has arrived that might be of interest to those who find some of the many advertisements that pop up a bit disconcerting or downright tasteless. They're unavoidable and everywhere you look as you traverse the city, so adding in replacements for them that are a little less in-your-face is of interest to some.

The mod in question is called ‘Disgusting Ads Redone - Lore friendly’ and is the work of modder zyd232, whose previous work has made Night City’s glass less blurry and cleaned up its water.

But this time, they’ve decided to add in slightly less terrifying versions of some of the game’s adverts. It hopefully means that you’re slightly less likely to lose your lunch if you decide to take a walk around the metropolis.

Remember the infamous ‘Bottoms up!’ ad that always seems to play when you enter Megabuilding H10’s elevator? Well, with this mod, it's now a relatively harmless promo for beer that shouldn't cause any trouble unless you’re allergic to dudes with gormless expressions.

Also affected are the likes of body implant ads and ones that feature toilet humour. Each receives a revision that might be a bit plain but shouldn’t lead you to want to glue your eyes shut.

There are two versions of the mod available, with an ‘all in one’ variant replacing all of the adverts, and then separate files available for those who only have issues with a few specific ones and don’t mind the rest.

That said, regardless of which version is being downloaded, NimRain’s ‘Material and Texture Override’ is a necessity in order to get things working as they should.
