Cyberpunk 2077 - Mod makes Night City NPCs a little more talkative

While Cyberpunk 2077 has endured a difficult lifespan since its 2020 release, with a barrage of bugs and glitches on various platforms putting off players and limiting the game’s success, things are finally looking up for the Keanu Reeves friendship simulator.

Following the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime series set in the universe of the game, a lot of players have been tempted into giving the game another chance, leading to some massive player numbers.

One thing that these returning mercenaries can now look forward to is the chance to be heckled in the street, with a new mod having had a go at making Night City’s NPCs less afraid of small talk.

Fancy trying to strike up a few conversations with strangers in Cyberpunk 2077?

The mod in question is simply called ‘Talk to Me’ and is the work of modder Massycraft. Their previous work has brought in charges for Night City’s worst drivers and given them some interesting electronic music to listen to.

This time, however, they’ve turned their attention to the civilian population of the futuristic metropolis. The vanilla disposition of the NPCs can be a little cold if you’re the kind of person who likes to stop and have an immersive natter while browsing at a market or commuting between gigs.

But with the mod installed, NPCs gain an adjustable field of view which, when entered by the player, will trigger some random dialogue designed to make it feel as though they’re acknowledging your presence. You can see the mod in action in the video below, which was posted in the comments section by user mothermatriarch.

While not perfectly immersive, the other comments do suggest that the mod has accomplished its goal of helping to “make the world feel a bit more alive.”
