While a lot of Cyberpunk 2077 players are already imagining how sweet life will be when the Phantom Liberty Expansion arrives and they can ditch their old flame, Keanu Reeves, for a fresh celebrity companion in Idris Elba, some are still hanging out in Night City while they wait.
The average day experienced by these veteran players can move at a pretty breakneck pace. Most spend a lot of time shooting their way through cybernetically enhanced foes to simply survive as mercenaries on the dangerous streets of CD Projekt Red’s dense urban jungle.
That said if you’re the kind of choom who prefers to spend their time exploring all of Night City’s hidden corners and alleyways, rather than blasting past them at high speed on the way to a gig, a new mod might be worth adding to your load order.
Want to learn a bit more about Cyberpunk 2077's tabletop lore?
The mod in question is called ‘Loremaster Scavenger Hunt 1 - Recluse Den’ and is seemingly the first-ever work of modder Matsif.
With some help from a group of experienced modders including NexusGuy999 and Kratoes they’ve decided to add an unmarked lore-centric scavenger hunt mission to the game, centred around a mysterious netrunner called Recluse, from the tabletop RPG Cyberpunk RED.
“I have placed multiple shards into the game world at various semi-hidden locations,” explains Matsif, continuing: “Reading a shard will give you clues on where to look for the next one, assuming you paid attention to the game world and map while playing.”
So starting off at V’s Northside apartment, the hunt will eventually lead you to unlock a new apartment inspired by the aforementioned netrunner’s hidden safehouse from RED. This is seemingly dubbed the ‘Recluse’s Den’, the location of which will pop up after you’ve collected all of the shards.
Sadly, however, it seems that creating part of the apartment led the modders to have to make an unavoidable alteration to the space station from the game’s Arasaka ending. This mod breaks that particular path, so you should probably opt for a different ending or uninstall the mod before starting your next corpo-themed playthrough.
But if you’re not wedded to helping an evil megacorporation, you’ll first need to grab Awpsoleet’s ‘Cyber Engine Tweaks’, in order to get the hunt working as it should.
