A lot of Cyberpunk 2077 players are already imagining how sweet life will be when the Phantom Liberty Expansion arrives and they can ditch their old flame, Keanu Reeves, for a fresh celebrity companion in Idris Elba. But some are still hanging out in Night City while they wait. So if you want to drift and race with some killer vintage wheels, then read on to find out how!
The average day experienced by these veteran mercenaries can move at a pretty breakneck pace. Players can spend a lot of time shooting or quickhacking their way through cybernetically-enhanced foes to complete gigs. Or they're simply trying to survive life on the dangerous streets of CD Projekt Red’s technological metropolis.
But if you're the kind of player who needs a rapid ride to convey you between the isolated areas you’ve been busy exploring and the date at a love interest's apartment that you’re late for, then a couple of new mods might be worth adding to your load order.
Conquer Cyberpunk 2077's street racing scene and drift with one of these highly-tuned racers
The first of the mods in question is called ‘1991 BMW E30 M3 (standalone car)’. This is seemingly the work of a group of modders led by ErebusEquity. Some of their previous projects have given Night City’s cops some fresh riot gear and made Johnny Silverhand look a bit more like his tabletop game inspiration.
This time, with the help of a crew of other modders including Psiberx and NexusGuy999, they’ve managed to bring an iconic German saloon to Night City. Used by drifters and touring car racers across the world during the 1990s, this standalone ride is accessible via DjKovrik’s ‘Virtual Car Dealer’.
It's available in a wide range of colours and features custom suspension and engine profiles made by modder Erok. Additionally, it has a fully functional interior and stash. So you’ll struggle to find a better retro motor in which to drift your way from the winding roads of North Oak to the sprawling avenues of Downtown.
NSX Rocket Bunny mod
That is unless you’ve got a soft spot for Japanese autos, in which case, a second recently released mod, ctxrlsec’s ‘92' NSX Rocket Bunny (Standalone Car Add-on)’, might be more your style.
This one features a Honda NSX outfitted with a killer bodykit. This car is also available via the virtual dealer and seemingly has a few more teething issues and minor bugs than the beemer. But it should still be suitable for burning some rubber, so drift to your heart's content.
Though, before grabbing the keys to either, you’ll first have to grab psiberx’s ‘ArchiveXL’ and ‘TweakXL’. ErebusEquity’s mod also requires WopsS’ ‘RED4ext’, jac3km4‘s ‘redscript’ and Erok’s ‘Car Modification Shop’.
But regardless of whether you’re now sliding past a Caliburn at obscene speed, make sure to follow us for more interesting Cyberpunk 2077 mods and info on the Phantom Liberty expansion. We've got plenty of awesome mod guides for the game, including how to turn Night City into the Matrix, as well as how to romance Johnny Silverhand!
