Days Gone Remastered should be a worthless cash grab, but this re-release already has strong digital pre-orders. Regardless of what you think about the game, strong sales like these are why Sony continues to remaster PS4 titles. So those wondering why we keep getting re-releases of games that aren’t that old, this is why.
Kevin McAllister, the Community Manager of Sony’s zombie shooter, confirmed on X that the remaster is already in the PS Store’s top 10 pre-orders. People say money talks and there’s nothing louder to Sony than customers buying a game that isn’t even out yet. Realistically, they could just buy the PS4 original but they chose to pre-order the remaster.
This writer has already ranted about Days Gone Remastered and how it shouldn’t exist, though gamers probably deserve it. After all, they’re the ones who are pouring their hard-earned money into a remaster of Sony’s fairly forgettable open-world zombie title. If there’s anything good that will come out of this, it’s that Bend Studio gets extra money for their next game and that’s an all-around positive.
PlayStation fans know that this isn’t the first time they’ve been given a pricier remaster for games that don’t even have pubic hair. We’ve seen Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered announced over the past few years. Fans could even argue that Sony let them know this would be happening in the beginning, launching the console with Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered as part of the Miles Morales Ultimate Edition.
In the end, fans are to blame for Days Gone Remastered and that’s a shame. Admittedly, this writer acts like Days Gone is awful when it’s actually a mechanically sound open-world title. It’s far from an awful game and fans getting the remaster will be getting some quality-of-life improvements.
For now, that’s everything we know about Days Gone Remastered and its strong pre-orders.
