Death Stranding 2 was first revealed during The Game Awards in 2022, though we haven’t heard anything from the sequel since. However, it seems we might get new info from the same event one year later, as Hideo Kojima and Geoff Keighley are trolling fans with possible info.

Kojima posted “good morning” on Twitter, which seemed like a harmless enough post until Keighley got involved with his comments. The Game Awards host then said “Wait isn’t it midnight in Tokyo?” teasing that Kojima might be in the US for this show.

While there’s no hard evidence that Death Stranding 2 will be in The Game Awards, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if this ends up happening. Keighley and Kojima are good friends after all, so a follow-up trailer to the first one we saw last year makes all the sense in the world.

Many fans will remember how Keighley spoke up for Kojima when he wasn’t allowed to receive his award for Metal Gear Solid 5 all those years ago. A few years later, Keighley would introduce Kojima’s Death Stranding during E3 2016, linking the two personalities together.

Hopefully, we get more concrete details on Death Stranding 2 if it does end up becoming a reality. Then again, this is Hideo Kojima we’re talking about, so expect even more confusing imagery with a deep meaning, because he loves doing that.

Details on the sequel are pretty slim, though most of the original cast seems to be returning, including Norman Reedus and Lea Seydoux. Beyond that, we haven’t seen any more gameplay for this visually stunning sequel, though it will likely come out for current-gen consoles. For all we know, this could come out on next-gen systems but here’s hoping that we get something during The Game Awards.
