Destiny 2, the popular first-person shooter developed by Bungie, has recently been hit by a game-breaking bug that has stirred the gaming community. This bug involves the manipulation of Exotic weapon perks to be transferred into other Legendary weapons, creating an unintended advantage for players. Bungie has taken swift action and is currently investigating a fix, however the issue is far more complex than initially thought.
We'll get into what the benefits for players are in a second, but unlike other game-breaking bugs, this one would require Bungie to rollback Destiny 2 completely to a previous version.
That's basically an unprecedented move by any developer, let alone one working on a live-service title. As such, Bungie has taken the decision to continue with the planned activities without taking the Destiny 2 servers down, including Trials of Osiris.
Destiny 2 game-breaking bug lets players craft a perfect weapon
Essentially, a player has found a way to give Exotic intrinsic traits to regular Legendary weapons. The caveat, as you might have figured out by now, is that they need to be a craftable weapon. Lucky for Guardians during Season of the Witch, plenty of new Exotics became craftable, like the Dead Messenger grenade launcher, or the Dead Man's Tale scout rifle.
Aztecross made a YouTube video demonstrating the process to replicate the bug.
As mentioned, Bungie has acknowledged the situation but since this is a very complicated manner they've yet to take action at the moment against this Destiny 2 bug. One thing players are safe from is any form of ban, although it remains to be seen if the devs will switch their stance once the bug is resolved, especially when it comes to taking these weapons into PvP in the future.
The Destiny 2 dev team said via social media:
We’re exploring all potential solutions and keeping an eye out in case things get TOO wild and we need to take drastic measures to ensure the health of the game.
And that's it! Are you going to craft something unique to remember one of the greatest Destiny 2 bugs in history? In the meantime, check out the complete loot pool for the Crota's End raid.
