With Diablo 4 having arrived earlier this month, those who approached it with the perfect build in mind and plenty of spare time have already created mountains of corpses.
While some players have taken some time out from grinding to help one of the game’s voice actors find their lines or appreciate the emotional message of a side quest, others have kept their pedal to the metal and already reached the end-game loop and hit level 100, by carving through dungeons, bosses, and Helltides.
That said, it seems those trying to do so as a Sorcerer have been having quite a difficult time doing so, with many players currently lamenting the fact that the game’s latest update hasn’t quite given the class the massive buffs they thought it was in need of.
Are you struggling to play Diablo 4 as a Sorcerer?
In response to the posting of the patch notes for the update, dubbed 1.0.3 Build, to the subreddit r/diablo4, a number of Sorcerer mains have bemoaned that the changes it makes to the class, which you can read in full here, aren’t extensive enough to solve the issue of it become ineffective at higher levels.
In this thread, user MasterGosu007 said: “Welp, those Sorcerer buffs are disappointing. Nowhere near enough has been done],” and vonAeschyli simply declared: “[It’s] time to delete my Sorcerer.”
On the other hand, some users emphasised that these small changes might make more of a difference than anticipated, and that more are likely coming once the game’s first season arrives. Similarly, user BFGDivisionn admitted: [At least there’s] a slight ray of hope for my level 84 Sorcerer who's been an Arc Lash spammer since level one. [They get a] bit more damage for [their] lightning spam. I’ll take it.”
Meanwhile, in another thread, user khrucible argued: “I was always expecting to be let down, but they actually surpassed that and basically changed nothing. Nobody will use Incinerate, Frozen Orb, Fireball or any of the basics, except Arc Lash, regardless of the numbers they change. They are all mechanically challenged or worse than their alternatives.”
It seems some of these frustrated players don’t plan on sticking exclusively with their established builds for much longer, with user Drakbob earning plenty of upvotes for joking: Which class are you guys rerolling to? That's the biggest topic [of discussion] for Sorcerers right now!”
