For many of the connoisseurs of frustration that roam the plains of Elden Ring, having a terrifyingly difficult time is all just part of the experience.
After all, when you’re trying to mow through pesky bosses, things can get pretty tricky, especially if you haven’t bothered to rebalance the game.
That said, sometimes a humorous message from another player can provide all of the spark you need to carry on pushing through and, if you choose to install a new mod, these little tidbits are guaranteed to be a bit more absurd and amusing.
Will you be adding comic sans to your Elden Ring experience?
The mod in question is simply called ‘Comic Sans Font’ and is the work of modder rainergeis, whose previous work ranges from the serious to the silly, having made the waterfowl dance look a bit cooler and forced Margit to fart while attacking.
This time, they’ve done something even worse, changing all of the game’s text to the infamous comic sans font and thus rendering it fairly impossible to take things too seriously.
For example, say you’ve loaded into the game for the first time in a while bristling with determination to finally finish a specific playthrough. Boom, there’s comic sans in the Main Menu, ready to make you chuckle away your steely edge.
Or, maybe you make it past this point, load into the game and go to check your inventory to remind yourself what your Tarnished has at their disposal. Boom, comic sans.
Perhaps you recover from this, end up pressing on and manage to discover a new location that you’ve never seen before, filled with untold treasures and secrets. Boom, comic sans.
Then, there’s the motherlode. You try to take on a boss that always gives you trouble. You’re dodging and weaving away, as well as landing some good hits of your own. Everything’s going great. Then you get caught by a fatal strike out of the blue.
The dreaded ‘You died’ notification comes up on the screen. In comic sans.
Devastating.
If you still haven’t been put off from downloading the mod, make sure to grab mod engine 2 first, as this is needed to facilitate the injection of comic sans into the game.
So, load in, prepare to record your gameplay to post on Twitter, and make sure to follow us for coverage of some mods that might help you make it through the likes of Elden Ring using only one hand.
