Since they finally received the massive DLC announcement they’d all been craving, Elden Ring players have all been basking in the warm glow of knowing that the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is definitely on its way.
For those keen to keep on honing their boss-slaying skills so they’re primed and ready to start carving their way through the DLC as soon as it drops, there are plenty of mods that can help to switch things up.
On the other hand, if you’re in the mood to watch someone else have a go at the game in an unorthodox manner and have already seen the Bop-It, motion and mind controlled challenge runs through the game, you might want to check out MissMikkaa’s latest attempt to tame the Lands Between.
Do you think you could survive a full playthrough of Elden Ring while boogieing your way through battles?
The streamer, who’s previously taken on two versions of the game simultaneously and beaten it using only one finger to control the action, began practising for and kicked off this latest unconventional playthrough, which sees them try to rush through all of the game’s bosses using a dance pad without suffering any deaths, last week.
In their latest stream, they started off neck deep in their first official attempt at completing the challenge, having spent a few minutes setting up a death counter, readying the dance pad and loading up the level 36 character they’d be using for the run.
Having beaten a Black Knife Assassin and endured a tough fight against a Godskin Noble, MissMikkaa was soon taking on the two-phase battle against Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, dodging the serpentine beast’s wild swings and countering with sword strikes that eroded enough health to kill the boss before it could hand the streamer their first death.
Godfrey, the first Elden Lord was the next major foe to bite the dust without interrupting the dance-padder’s flow, with MissMikkaa then setting their sights on the fearsome Starscourge Radahn and managing to down the colossal warrior without damaging their spotless death total.
Sadly, the lumbering blows of the Fire Giant would finally put a blemish on this perfect record, inflicting a surprising enough amount of damage to kill the streamer and end their chances of besting the run at the first time of asking.
Having done some analysis of the footage of this demise, Missmikkaa chose to continue on without restarting for a bit longer, in order to get some practice in ahead of their next attempt, eventually finishing the game to establish a personal best score of ten deaths for the run.
Though, given MissMikkaa’s tenacity, odds are this record won’t stand for long.
Regardless of how much time you think it’ll take the streamer to overcome this latest challenge, stay tuned for more coverage of some interesting streamers and guides to Shadow of the Erdtree as soon as it arrives.
