While they may not have gotten the massive DLC announcement they all crave yet, Elden Ring players have still had new content to dig into, with the long-awaited Colosseum DLC providing a fresh challenge for many who now consider traditional boss battles to be old news.
However, for the most hardened of warriors, this battle arena clearly isn’t proving difficult enough, with the world of streaming, infamous for producing the likes of drawing pad and one-handed runs through the game’s bosses, having featured the likes of dual device runs through The Lands Between in recent months.
The streamer behind that last challenge is MissMikkaa, who, after playing a bit of double-screened Dark Souls, has just started a fresh Elden Ring run using a guitar as a controller.
Have you ever wondered how Slash or Kirk Hammett might handle Elden Ring?
While she isn’t the first Twitch streamer to have controlled their Tarnished using the signature weapon of every Guitar Hero protagonist, unlike her predecessor, Luality, Missmikkaa opted for an acoustic axe, possibly in the hopes of lulling the likes of Radahn into a false sense of security via some melodic chords.
Kicking off her first stream of the run by explaining that her control scheme with the instrument would consist of: “a mix of chords and notes”, adding: “I wanted to do (just) chords, but it turns out that chords have so many different frequencies that it can be very inconsistent.”, creating the need to use singular notes too.
Once she’d tuned up her guitar and assigned all of the audio inputs, MissMikkaa created a fresh character and got to grips with the tones she’d need to play to move around, making some regular changes to optimise the setup.
Despite this, combat encounters, especially boss battles against foes like the Stonedigger Troll proved an uphill struggle, with the guitar not offering the swift dodges necessary to evade incoming blows.
However, by the time the streamer reached Margit, she was feeling a little bit more comfortable and optimistic about her abilities to shred through these tough foes, throwing herself into a number of battles against the Fell Omen and gradually getting closer to victory before deciding to call it a day and vacate the stage.
