When they’re not chatting to random NPCs, fiddling with their power armour or decorating their settlements, Fallout 4’s Sole Survivor can often be found fending off the many dangers of The Commonwealth.

Whether it’s terrifying mutated creatures skulking around irradiated areas or imposing Brotherhood of Steel gunships patrolling the skies, the sheer range of enemies inhabiting the wasteland makes just staying alive a minor miracle.

If you’re a vault dweller who feels as though they need someone to cheer them up after they’ve blasted and zapped their way through a horde of angry adversaries, a new mod might be worth loading into your chamber.

Fancy being followed around by a giggling joke merchant as you explore Fallout 4’s wasteland?

The mod in question is called ‘Mr. Clowny Companion - Mr. Handy Clown Voice and Paint for Automatron’ and is the work of modder Morgosus. Some of their previous projects have brought Fallout 3’s Gary to The Commonwealth and given you the chance to build your settlement a Protectron Butler.

This time, they’ve decided to create a Mr Handy follower that offers something a little different to the polite and helpful Codsworth.

As you can see in the showcase video above, the new bot, dubbed ‘Mr Clowny’, has adopted the appearance and mannerisms of its namesake, with a cheeky smile painted across its armour and plenty of jokes occupying the memory banks of its processor.

It can also seemingly deploy a suitably creepy laugh at regular intervals, which might be good for intimidating enemies, but also probably means you won’t want to take Mr Clowny with you to explore the game’s darkest sewers and creepiest dungeons.

If you haven’t been put off by his incessant giggling, you can find the amusing android near D.B. Technical High School in the Theater Square area of the map.

Recruiting it will also automatically unlock the paint scheme and voice module it uses for use on your own Automatron creations, though none of those you apply it to at the robot workbench will be able to accompany you on your adventures, preventing you from taking over Boston with an army of deranged mechanical comedians.

Regardless of whether your Sole Survivor is now getting a bit sick of being asked why the chicken crossed the road, make sure to follow us for more updates on interesting mods like this one for Skyrim and Cyberpunk 2077. You can also check out our mods of the month for February 2023.
