No matter whether they’ve been worked on for years or put together in a single day, Fallout 4 mods can add a lot to the experience on offer in The Commonwealth.

Some of these wonderful works focus on giving you the tools to make your post-apocalyptic playthroughs rather hilarious. Meanwhile, others can provide fresh adventures for you to delve into, sometimes involving familiar factions or the chance to become a wasteland property mogul.

If you’ve been delving back into The Commonwealth while you wait for Starfield to arrive and are looking forward to cataloguing or hunting all of the different alien creatures you find as you explore the cosmos, a new mod might be worth adding to your load order.

Feel like Fallout 4’s wasteland could do with a bunch of new irradiated creatures top really bring it to life?

The mod in question is called ‘Mutant Menagerie - Life Finds A Way’ and is the work of modder StamperDoesMods.

They’ve just released a huge final version of their popular Mutant Menagerie mod, which they’d previously been gradually releasing as a series of works which add a massive range of new creatures and animals to The Commonwealth and DLC areas like Nuka World.

This latest version incorporates all of the mods in the series into a single lore-friendly “creature and ecosystem overhaul for Fallout 4 and its expansions,” which boasts over 60 mutant creatures, over 30 new bit of flora, and over 50 species of fish, in addition to some new mechanics, collectibles, and perks.

“Become a hunter, beast tamer, fisherman, forager, or even a wasteland chef! Hunt deadly world bosses, complete all five volumes of Dell Lincoln's in-game bestiary, or just play Fallout 4 as usual with new wildlife in the background,” writes StamperDoesMods in the mod’s description, adding: “The options are almost endless!"

Among the array of creatures you can encounter via the mod are uber-tough foes designed to serve as some of its 24 “world bosses”. These are unique enemies that boast their own quests and are designed to challenge those who’ve managed to reach level 70 or higher.

Before you go hunting for big game, you can get to grips with the assortment of new creatures the mod adds to the wasteland (a list which you can read here if you don’t mind spoilers), collecting the pages required to put together the bestiaries that serve as a guide to its creatures.

There's also the chance to try trapping some of the creatures in your settlements so that you can get a closer look at them, via some additions to the Wasteland Workshop DLC’s craftable cages.
