When they’re not recovering from Christmas, playing post-apocalyptic dress-up, or searching for hidden Chinese nuclear bunkers, Fallout 4 players can often be found in the middle of some rather intense gunfights.

While these exchanges often end in victory for the Sole Survivor thanks to their well-honed shooting skills or nuke-throwing abilities, if higher-level enemies are involved, any extra advantages that can help boost up their armour’s damage resistance probably wouldn’t go amiss.

If you often find yourself barely making it through Deathclaw encounters or brawls with super mutants, a new mod might be worth a look.

Want to gain an extra edge in combat during your next Fallout 4 playthrough?

The mod in question is called ‘Med Tek Combat Stimulants’ and is the work of a group of modders led by jeaceb. While this is the first mod they’ve posted on the Nexus, they’ve had some help from more experienced modders like eclix, whose previous work is very survival-focused and AidanWatts3D, who, among other things, has brought statues of GTA 4’s Niko Bellic to Boston.

Together, they’ve fulfilled jeaceb’s vision of bringing nine Escape From Tarkov-style combat stimulants to the game in a relatively lore-friendly manner and with working first person animations, allowing you to diversify the contents of your post-apocalyptic first aid kit.

Sick of spamming stimpaks and Med-X? Why not try Med-X Regenerative Stim? It offers buffed damage resistance and some healing, but comes with the side effect of tunnel vision, or an E-MT Regenerative Stim, which boosts your health and endurance, but can leave you dehydrated.

Or, if you’re not quite moving as fast as you need to, you can try out either a MULE stim, which will massively increase your carry weight limit, but leave you weaker to damage, or an MT-6 Stim, which jeaceb singles out as their “personal favourite”, because it allows you to sprint for a lot longer.

Unfortunately, if you want to acquire these interesting serums, you’ll have to side with the Institute during Fallout 4’s main story, as they can only be acquired in the faction’s underground home at present.
