While a lot of Fallout 4 mods are designed to bring beloved features and characters from previous games in the series to the Commonwealth, including everyone’s favourite clone and Mr House’s robotic friends, sometimes you can’t beat delving back into Fallout 3 or New Vegas for real.
After all, while the Fallout 4 New Vegas modding project looks to be coming along brilliantly, it hasn’t quite arrived in full yet.
However, if sifting through the screenshots and clips from its recent showcase week has you itching to dive back into Obsidian’s original game and you’re not a big fan of pork and beans, a new mod might be just what you need to spice things up a bit.
Are you looking forward to watching the Ivanpah 500?
The mod in question is called ‘Animated Race Track’ and is the work of prolific modder Ashens2014, who has lots of experience with animations that bring New Vegas’ dilapidated pre-war props back to life, having previously returned Camp McCarran’s cargo planes to the sky and even made the rollercoaster outside of Primm’s Bison Steve Hotel work once more.
This time, they’ve decided to bring more high-speed vehicular encounters by resurrecting the abandoned oval racetrack located near Ivanpah Dry Lake, to the northwest of Nipton.
The mod does this by refurbishing the road that forms the track, adding a bunch of racing-inspired props, such as an animated chequered flag and some bleachers, to its surroundings and, finally, adding an animation to the car that you can usually find resting on the track to ensure it’ll be tearing around at breakneck pace instead.
As you can hear in the video above, the car has also had a bunch of throaty engine sounds added to it, ensuring that you won’t be left panicking that you’ve somehow been missing out on adding a wonderfully quiet electric automobile to your latest stealthy playthrough.
If you’re desperate to secure your ticket to the greatest race to hit New Vegas since someone last tried to get banned from all of The Strip’s casinos in record time, you’ll first need to grab another of Ashens2014’s recent mods, called ‘Global Imposter Region’.
Regardless of whether you’re now taking your seat in the Ivanpah raceway grandstand, make sure to follow us for more updates on interesting mods like this one for Fallout, Skyrim and Elden Ring.
