The demo for Final Fantasy 7 has arrived on the PlayStation store!
Final Fantasy 7 was a game that was originally released in 1997 and since then fans have waited for the day that a remake would get a release date.
To their delight, Final Fantasy 7 Remake was one of the showstoppers during E3 2019 with its official reveal trailer and gameplay footage.

Red XIII
Despite appearing in recent artwork and trailers, The four-legged fan favourite, Red XIII, unfortunately, won't be a playable character in the Final Fantasy 7 remake.
Instead, Red XIII will be given a guest role, whilst things aren't 100% clear on what that means, we assume our favourite canine will be given a supporting role during combat (which is better than nothing).
What Is The Final Fantasy 7 Remake?
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a full-blown remake of the classic RPG game that was originally released in 1997.
The game is an action RPG centred around the character Cloud Strife and will follow the story almost identical to when it was originally released.
The game is set to release in multiple segments so that they can fully capture the story!
Release Date and Platforms
The release date was originally set for release on March 3rd, 2020.
However, it has now been delayed! The new date is now April 10th 2020 in order to "apply final polish to the game and to deliver the best possible experience".
We have no indication to whether or not we are going to get a PC release as well, it could come after the PS4 release date - we'll update you as soon as we know!

New Combat System
As you can tell by the above trailers, the combat system in the remake of Final Fantasy 7 is completely revamped.
Much like the combat style we have seen in titles such as Kindom Hearts 3, it is a fresh sight to see for the franchise that was once only turned based combat.
However, if you are feeling that itch to battle more turn-based than action based fear not.
Square Enix has confirmed there will be some sort of classical style of battling system, this will not be as methodical as turned based but will be vastly different than the regular combat in the game.
Deluxe Edition
Select retailers are offering special pre-order bonuses such as EB Game who are offering a "Serialized Shinra Keycard and Collectible Tin Box, plus Chocobo Chick Summon Materia DLC" for simply pre-ordering the game.
If you opt for the Deluxe Edition of Final Fantasy 7 Remake you will get the following:
- Artbook
- Mini-Soundtrack
- Steelbook
- Cactuar Summon Materia DLC

Characters
The game feature 4 main characters.
Cloud Strife
"An ex-SOLDIER: first class, Cloud came to Midgar to start a new chapter of his life as a mercenary. At the invitation of his childhood friend, Tifa, he accepted a job with Avalanche. He may bring his buster sword to bear against Shinra troopers, but he does not care for plight of the planet. For him, this is a job and nothing more."
Aerith Gainsborough
Aerith is a flower seller who lives in the Sector 5 slums, who first meets Cloud on the streets of Midgar after the bombing of Mako Reactor 1. Shinra has kept a close eye on her ever since she was a child, as she has the ability to hear the voice of the planet. She is often found tending a modest bed of flowers at an old church in Sector 5.
Tifa Lockhart
"A loyal member of Avalanche─an underground organization opposed to Shinra─Tifa also runs Seventh Heaven, a popular bar in the Sector 7 slums. Although she bears a terrible grudge towards Shinra, she is not convinced that bombing mako reactors is the solution. As she struggled to reconcile her cause with her conscience, Tifa was reunited with her childhood friend, Cloud, for the first time in years..."
Barret Wallace
The leader of an independent Avalanche cell in Midgar, Barret was disavowed by the old guard for his extreme methods that attracted too much attention. He subsequently came to Midgar, where he resolved to continue to pursue his vendetta against Shinra with a small but trusted group of followers. When not fighting against the corporation, he and his comrades serve in the neighborhood watch and keep the people safe─including his daughter Marlene, who he dotes on as a loving father.
