South Korea has a pretty serious law where men are required to take part in compulsory military service between the ages of 18 to 35. Even K-pop celebrities aren’t immune to this, which is why EA Sports FC pro WonChangYeon faking his intelligence test to skip military service is a serious crime.

As reported by the Korea Herald (via Dexerto), WonChangYeon has been found guilty of faking his IQ test to get out of military service. When he first took the test, his IQ was only 53 but the police soon caught wind of his transgressions, getting charged with draft dodging.

The EA Sports FC player was later found guilty and he now has to serve one year in prison and is required to do 120 hours of community service. It just goes to show that you can’t escape these laws, no matter what you do, hence, this pro gamer going to jail.

For his part, WonChangYeon posted on his Afreecatv account, apologizing to his fans for the incident and claiming that a statement is being made. At the time of writing, this statement has not yet been released, though that could always change later on. Either way, the pro gamer will have a lot of thinking to do and he will have the time to do that.

As we mentioned earlier, this is a required law in South Korea, with pretty much every star under the country’s watch going through it. Even superstar group BTS had to eventually do their required military service, as fans are still waiting for them to get back and make new music. There originally was a delay to their service but they’re now doing what the law requires them to do, showing no one is above it.

WonChangYeon retired from EA Sports FC last August, following the arrest, though he did attempt to keep a YouTube channel. Only time will tell if he gets to continue that career, so we’ll have to wait and see.
