Game development is difficult. It's one of the fundamental truths of the universe, right next to seasons changing and everything going wrong exactly when it would be most annoying. The curse of inconvenience has targeted Forza Motorsport players this week as the newly released title faces glaring issues that have led to a loss of progress and crashes.

In the five days leading up to release, some fans had early access to Forza Motorsport by purchasing the game's premium edition or premium add-ons bundle. This isn't anything new; it seems most recent games let their most dedicated fans behind the curtain early so they can hone their skills before the rest of the world starts playing.

What's also unfortunately not new is the early access exposing some major issues ahead of the game's launch. In a post to the Xbox Series X subreddit, several players have shared their frustrations at losing progress for something as trivial as applying upgrades to their cars.

The comments and official Forza forums have seen many tales of terror coming just in time for the game's release around the Halloween season.

Game gets stuck on applying upgrades between races, have to alt F4 to close the game then redo the last race I just did.
Similar situation here. Game freezes when buying a car for second cup. Even after reboot I'm right back at Homestead event in first cup. Done this four times already - I'm on XSX.
It's a great sim racer, but a mess. I've consistently gotten freezing every other race, forcing me to quit to the dashboard. Interestingly, when I load back in, the upgrades I last made are still there, but my CP is back as though I never made them! The game definitely needs some stability patches (this is on Series X, btw).

It seems no matter the platform, the curse of inconvenience comes for us all. The game's developers, Turn 10 Studios, will no doubt be hard at work on a patch. We don't have any news from them on when it can be expected, but the content updates announced for the coming months make it clear that they want you to stick around - let's just hope the bugs decrease in number by then.
