Gears of War: E-Day got Xbox fans talking when it was first announced, giving Microsoft fans an exclusive they could be proud of. This third-person shooter was supposedly scheduled for a late 2025 release, but leaks have suggested a major change. If true, fans of the console are in for a long drought, at least when it comes to exclusives.
A “source” told eXtas1s (via VGT Gaming News) that E-Day is currently scheduled for a 2026 release. While there is hope to keep the late 2025 release, the source claims this shooter will likely come out next year. Considering how early we are in 2025, this will be a long wait for Xbox gamers, especially after Fable’s delay.
It is disappointing to hear about a delay for Gears of War: E-Day, but this is better than the title launching with plenty of bugs. Granted, the game will have a ton of bugs for players to shoot, but those aren’t the kind of bugs we’re talking about. Regardless of the bug types, releasing a game late is better than rushing something to bad reviews.
While the delay to E-Day is disappointing, some good news is supposedly coming for Xbox and PlayStation fans. We’re going to get a Gears of War collection for Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC later this year, apparently. The collection will supposedly be a day-one release for all consoles, which is a first for a former Xbox exclusive.
Only time will tell if any of this is true, given the lack of news for Gears of War: E-Day right now. There are various rumors about the game, including how it will eventually come to PS5, given Xbox’s weird initiative to bring their exclusives to other systems. At the least, it should be a quality release when the game comes out, which is the most important thing.
