While some GTA players are still trying to enjoy everything that Los Santos has to offer by getting up to wacky hijinks and spending all of their hard-earned cash, others are already looking forward to GTA 6.
For some, this has involved coming up with potential ideas for its soundtrack, working out how a social hub like Red Dead Redemption 2’s gang camp could fit into it or intensely debating whether the game’s first trailer will be released this month.
However, the current debate in progress among one section of fans concerns just how tough the challenge of becoming a Vice City crime lord should be.
Do you think GTA 6 should come with some tougher options for hardened veterans?
This discussion is the subject of a recent thread on the GTA 6 subreddit, which began with a post from user Steggyful, who asked: “How would you guys feel if Rockstar added different difficulties to the game?” and also alluded to the idea of such modes possibly having a focus on realism.
A number of their fellow players seemed open to the idea of modes aimed at those who want to face more of a challenge, with user Rhino-kneecaps saying: “I (definitely) think they need to make it more difficult,” and Mugegegegege adding: “(The original) Red Dead Redemption had a hardcore difficulty mode and it worked well in my opinion.”
User AristidesBe suggested that such modes could feature changes as simple as making certain types of NPCs more effective in combat, giving the example of having SWAT police fight differently and be a lot harder to take down than regular cops.
On the other hand, a few players seemed to be against the idea of making things more realistic, with user nikkomercado arguing: “Rockstar never makes things (realistic). The world just is and it just lives.”
Meanwhile, user toxicemo88 suggested that the game should automatically adjust the difficulty based on how easily the player is carving their way through opponents during combat.
