GTA 6 fans are trying to correctly guess its release date in order to earn social media points

While many GTA players are just trying to enjoy their remaining time in Los Santos by filling up their new 50 car garage or engaging in some dodgy street deals, some are already looking forward to GTA 6.

After all, aren’t you curious what the next game’s map will look like, how it might incorporate mechanics from Red Dead Redemption 2, or whether you’ll be tasked with saving the world during your first playthrough?

While all of this likely won’t be known until the game finally arrives, some players are currently having a go at trying to guess exactly when this might be, with the incredibly valuable prize of social media bragging rights being on the line.

Their high-stakes guessing game forms the subject of a recent thread on the GTA Online subreddit, which began with a post from user StupidRedditGarbage. They kicked off the contest by declaring: “Guess the actual launch date of GTA 6 (correct to the day) and I’ll give your (Reddit post) gold.”

Naturally, this precipitated a wild west-style gold rush, with fans blurting out a massive array of suggestions, most of which ended with the year 2024 or 2025, reflecting the perception that the game’s arrival is relatively close, but not imminent.

In terms of pinpointing a month, most users seemed to have opted for the second half of the year, deciding to place their dates in October or November, though there were expectations that plumped for the likes of March and May.

Some went so far as to put effort into ensuring that the exact day they’d chosen had some concrete reasoning behind it, with user MikeStanley00 explaining their pick of “October 24 2025” by saying: “(GTA games) usually release on Fridays.”

Meanwhile, user SoulMullet declined to make a guess, instead suggesting: “If somebody put all of these dates on a spreadsheet and figured out the mean of (them), we’ll probably be pretty close (to the actual date).”
