While GTA Online is currently full of rich players, whose impressive property portfolios and garages are the result of years of grinding away, this wasn’t always the case.
After all, before all of those daring heists and dangerous sales missions completed by dedicated crews desperate to boost their in-game bottom lines, every GTA player was just a penniless newbie with a tiny pistol, plain clothes and a stolen car.
Now, though, a group of GTA elite on Reddit is being faced with the idea that they’ll one day have to return to being poor again, with GTA 6 unlikely to let them port their money over.
Are you dreading having to earn back your fortune in GTA 6?
This terrifying premonition is the subject of a recent thread in the GTA Online subreddit, which began with a post from user Akatsukibrya, who mused: “Grinders, how do you feel knowing that our time in GTA online is limited? I highly doubt the money we accumulated (is) going to transfer to the next game.”
The response to their inquiry saw a host of GTA’s hardest workers get very philosophical, with user ShaunVdV1986 declaring: “Just like in life. Everything dies. So let's make the most of it.” and Haywire_Shadow adding: “I’ll hate it when the time comes, but that’s life. I’ve done pretty much everything there is to do in GTA Online, so I’m happy to spend my remaining time helping others and messing around with my spare cash.”
Others got even deeper, with user kpanzer pontificating: “Meh. It was never about the money. It was about what I could do with it. I did (grinding) until I could buy what I wanted to (and) buy and set up semi-passive income so I wouldn't have to grind unless I wanted to.”
On the other hand, some users were convinced their efforts won’t end up coming to nought upon the arrival of a new game, with issoooo saying: “Grand Theft Auto Five Online does not exist. Grand Theft Auto Six Online does not exist. Grand Theft Auto Online exists. It used the GTA 5 map and characters of course, but they’ve made it very clear it’s a completely separate game from GTA 5.”
Meanwhile, user Bordeaux710 attempted to bring this back down to earth, arguing: “Geez, (there’s been) no confirmation for release date on 6 yet. Reports say it’s still gonna be another year or two but who’s to say. Why worry now when we can still enjoy and have fun with our current grind?”
