GTA Online players don’t think upcoming vehicle price changes will help combat griefing

While some are already focused on what might happen once GTA 6 gets a concrete release date, many GTA Online players are just trying to make the most of their remaining time in Los Santos.

After all, with Last Dose missions to play through, plenty of events to get involved in and an array of new cars having been dispatched over the past few months, along with a cool place to store them, there’s still plenty of interesting stuff around in the game to keep enterprising criminals busy, no matter how they like to play.

However, it seems as though some upcoming changes to vehicle pricing, outlined by Rockstar in its Newswire post about the game’s latest update, aren’t going down too well among long-time players.

What do you think of these planned price changes for some of GTA Online’s most controversial vehicles?

The dosh-based discontent of these GTA veterans can be found in a recent thread on the GTA Online subreddit, which was kicked off by user PapaXan posting the list of price changes, which are set to come into effect on April 27.

Rockstar has stated that these adjustments are designed: “to better reflect the value (of the vehicles in question) to players”, with some, such as the Brute Armored Boxville and the HVY Chernobog, having their prices decreased to “make them more accessible” and others, such as the much-derided Pegassi Oppressor Mark Two, being made more expensive to offset their “outsized utility, performance, or powerful weaponry.”

However, many players don’t seem wholly convinced that these changes, especially the price hikes to vehicles often used by griefers, will actually have a positive effect on the playing experience, with PapaXan saying: “I see this as a way to get people to quickly spend money before the prices increase in two weeks (time). Some of the changes make some sense, but others like the (increases for the) Granger and (the) Champion do not. Who's being griefed by either of those?”

Several other users seemed to agree, with LKincheloe suggesting: “If they made an un-weaponized ‘Traveller’ flying bike (available for) $2 million, then I (could) understand the price changes.” and CommonCullen adding: “I feel bad for all the new players who are going to be getting constantly griefed by Mark Two (and having) to save up $8 million for their own.”

Meanwhile, user IronMark666 had an interesting take on how the current state of the market for newer arrivals in Los Santos, musing: “We long-term players are now exactly like (the real-life) boomers, who bought their house and invested at the right time (in history), while the younger generation struggle to get the same things.”
