Halo Infinite has had a turbulent time since its launch in 2021, but its developers aren't letting go quite yet. The game's fifth season is on the horizon, and if the latest trailer anything to go off, there's plenty for fans to be excited about.

The new season brings several new pieces of content, ranging from the usual battle pass and cosmetics to more substantial offerings like maps and game modes. Fans are excited to see what the 'reimagined' Extraction mode will entail, a cult-classic skirmish returning from Halo 4.

Plenty of buzz has been generated around the map-making Forge mode too with this season bringing the addition of enemy AI. That's AI as in the 'add enemies to my custom map' kind, not the 'make Peter Griffin eat spaghetti, oh god, what's wrong with his hands' kind.

With Forge AI, players can make their own custom campaign missions. By creating a map with custom objectives, you can fight through hordes of Grunts, Brutes, Elites and more to finish your mission. If you missed Spartan Ops, this is for you.

Players that enjoy tackling the game with friends will also be pleased with the news that you can now earn battle pass XP in custom games. Gone are the days of stomping your buddies just for personal satisfaction - it all goes towards unlocking cool new cosmetics now, including the Chief's armor as a new hero rank reward. Be sure to thank your friends for being such easy sources of XP.

The maps shown in the teaser revealed some interesting mechanics, too. Shooting the pink crystals on the Prism map can quickly lead to death for any poor souls stood near them.

All this and more comes to Halo Infinite on October 17th; the last few seconds of the trailer also tease 'firefight king of the hill', coming soon. If you're on the fence about trying Halo Infinite, this seems like as good a time as any to give it a go. After all, it is free to play.
