Marvel's Iron Man VR: Gameplay, Release Date, Headset, Requirements, Oculus and Everything You Need To Know For PS4

Marvel's Iron Man VR is one of the most anticipated VR games coming to the PS4 VR in 2020.

With such incredible popularity surrounding Marvel properties, such as the most recent Spider-Man title, its no wonder why so many are looking forward to its release date.

The game will put you in the shoes of the famous superhuman avenger, as you make your way throughout some of Tony Stark's most notable battles.

Let's dive into all you need to know about Iron Man VR!

 

Will There Be An Iron Man VR Demo?

Great news! Not only is there going to be an Iron Man VR demo, but it's out now!

The demo has the tutorial mission - Malibu, and the Stark Jet cinematic, which features Tony, Friday, and Pepper Potts.

There's also an optional mission called Flight Challenge included along with the gameplay mission Out of the Blue, and another optional mission/ challenge called Advanced Combat Challenge.

What Is Iron Man VR? 

This new VR game for the PS4 will put you in the shoes of a retired Tony Stark.

No longer is he using his powers to make weapons, but now he is using them to fight evil.

Players will have full control of Iron Man throughout the game as you aim to defeat the main boss.

Abilities

In a recent PlayStation Blog, developers revealed a number of abilities players will have access to whilst in the VR experience.

Here's what they showed us:

  • Boost - Players can boost the Iron Man suit to reach faster speeds whilst flying.
  • Rocket Punch - Players will have access to Rocket Punches which can be delivered in combos.
  • Auxiliary Weapon - Through spending research points, players can unlock a number of powerful auxiliary weapons that each perform differently.
  • Ground Pound - Allows players to descend on enemies at furious speeds.
  • Unibeam - A laser that blasts directly out of Iron Man's chest doing significant damage.

Locations

The PlayStation Blog also revealed a number of exciting locations.

Developers have stated the level of detail that has gone into creating these environments.

As well as the difficulty in creating spaces that players can freely explore whilst flying.

Here's a list of the revealed locations for the game:

  • S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier
  • Shanghai
  • Stark Facility

Game Length

The developers of the game initially thought the campaign would take around 4-5 hours to complete.

However, they revealed in their recent playtest data that it was taking almost double that.

This would make the campaign at around 8-10 hours in length.

That's an impressive length for a campaign in a VR title.

Release Date

Marvel's Iron Man VR is coming 3rd July 2020.

It was originally set to release February 28th, 2020.

 It was then announced that the game would be delayed until the 15th May 2020.

The game will now launch on 3rd July and will be exclusively for the PS4!

Story Mode Trailer

The description of the story mode for Iron Man VR is noted as

Tony Stark has retired from making weapons and instead creates technology used to battle evil as Iron Man.

 

 

After several years as a world-famous Super Hero, Tony is attacked by the mysterious Ghost, a hacker and anti-corporate activist who repurposes old Stark Industries weapons.

In her efforts to topple his empire, Ghost attacks Stark’s corporate locations around the world, leading to ever-escalating stakes and a final showdown.

Headset/Requirements

In order to get the full experience of Iron Man VR, you are going to need to already own or purchase a Playstation VR system.
