Breakdown
- The latest over the air update for Marvel Snap has once again nerfed Thanos, in an attempt to halt The Mad Titan’s reign
- Both the Time Stone and Thanos himself have been adjusted with nerfs, with the former making the Sanctuary II location worse
- However, Thanos decks are still very powerful, and we’ll likely see more nerfs to the card soon
In movies and comics, Thanos is powerful. The Mad Titan has put fear into the hearts of all beloved heroes in the Marvel universe, but his power is slowly being taken away in one place - Marvel Snap, the card strategy game from Second Dinner.
If you've been using the best Marvel Snap Thanos deck, you'll know that the 6-Cost, 10-Power card has been a force to be reckoned with for months now. Whenever a new card appears in Marvel Snap, it hasn't been a matter of building a deck around the latest card, but rather, "how can we fit it into a Thanos deck?"
For instance, take the best Marvel Snap Mockingbird deck or the best Marvel Snap Cull Obsidian deck, both of which have fuelled the Mad Titan's reign over the meta in recent seasons. Second dinner made some minor changes to Thanos' Infinity Stones recently, but the developer is further pushing for nerfs against him. You could say, Second Dinner is coming for Thanos' head.
With the recent OTA, or over the air, update, Second Dinner has further nerfed Thanos. The first of which is a direct nerf to the card itself, with Thanos now starting in your opening hand instead. This makes it a huge target for Spider-Ham, who will always turn the leftmost card in your hand into a Pig. Of course, Mobius M. Mobius will make him 0-Cost, 10-Power, but no Infinity Stones will buff the Pig.
The Time Stone has also been changed again, despite suffering from a nerf just weeks ago. Instead of drawing a card and giving it -1 Cost, the new Time Stone will give Thanos -1 Cost for the next turn, and draw a card. Annoyingly, this actually makes the Sanctuary II location even worse, as being given the Time Stone is practically useless unless you're running Thanos.
There's no doubt that Thanos is still a powerful archetype despite the nerfs. The fact he can consistently draw powerful cards using the Infinity Stones, as well as helping to unleash Mockingbird and Cull Obsidian in early turns, makes him a dangerous deck to play against. However, for me at least, going back to the best Marvel Snap destroy deck is a little more appealing now, instead of running constant matches with my Thanos deck.
In the same OTA update, Angela has finally returned to her previous glory, while Sabretooth and Crossbones have both seen a minor buff. The only other card to be nerfed, aside from the Time Stone and Thanos, was Miek, who saw a minor change from 1/1, to 1/0.
