EA Motive’s upcoming Marvel’s Iron Man video game won’t be made in secret. After finishing work on its critically acclaimed Dead Space remake, the developer is going all in one the open-world superhero title, and fans will help.
EA Motive has confirmed that Marvel’s Iron Man will be developed via the same “community council” method that its Dead Space game was. This means that fans will be shown early development gameplay over time, and feedback will be used to change animations, sound effects, gameplay and more.
Marvel’s Iron Man has officially entered early development and, unlike Dead Space, it is a wholly original game. With this in mind, it may take longer and have way more community impact than the Dead Space project did.
“Our focus has switched to the Iron Man project, giving us the opportunity to work (and play!) with another extraordinary property,” EA Motive general manager Patrick Klaus said in a blog post. “We’re still early in pre-production and taking our time to make sure we set the best possible foundation for development. But already, we’re finding so many opportunities to explore story, design and gameplay with Iron Man, and it’s exciting to see the fantasy start coming alive.”
Klaus explained that a community council has already been put in place to determine how the game is made. The current iteration of the council consists of both Marvel and Iron Man fans, and development processes will be shared online just like with Dead Space.
With Dead Space, Motive shared in-development footage on social media, including Twitter, with unfinished environments to show fans the vibe they were going for. With the game receiving critical acclaim upon release, something went well.
EA Motive’s Iron Man game has been described as an open world superhero adventure in the past. An entirely single-player game, the new Marvel game is powered by Unreal Engine 5, the same engine powering BioWare’s upcoming Mass Effect 4.
There’s no release date pinned for the upcoming Marvel’s Iron Man game.
