Yacht Club Games, developers of indie darling Shovel Knight, have announced their newest game Mina the Hollower. Offering a new 8-bit game, rather than being a 2D side-scroller, this top-down adventure bears similarities to The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening if it had Castlevania's gothic setting.
Announced during the Yacht Club Games Presents showcase, Mina the Hollower is a Kickstarter project classic Game Boy Color aesthetics, but with modern sensibilities. Accordingly, the team's using Kickstarter to raise funds for expanding the game, though Yacht Club will finance “a majority of the project.”
Shovel Knight Devs Announce Their Latest Game, Mina the Hollower
Mina the Hollower is currently in the “thick” of production with ideas still being shared and formed so it doesn’t seem like this 8-bit adventure will be coming out anytime soon. Fans looking to help out can support this project on Kickstarter though, unsurprisingly, the game quickly surpassed its initial goal of US$311,503 with 29 days left.
Platforms for Mina the Hollower are subject to change, though box art on the Kickstarter shows planned versions for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch.
