Chinese gaming giant Tencent might be working on a new Elden Ring mobile game, which will supposedly take cues from miHoYo’s Genshin Impact. While the mobile title hasn’t been officially confirmed, the popularity of games like Genshin shows that an open-world mobile RPG isn’t impossible anymore.
A report from Reuters claims that Tencent is working on a mobile version of FromSoftware’s hit open-world game. Unlike the main game, the report claims that this is aiming for a free-to-play model, similar to the aforementioned Genshin Impact. This makes a ton of sense since Tencent specializes in these money-making free-to-play titles.
It will be interesting to see how Elden Ring is translated to mobile, especially since the game is far from a casual-friendly experience. Most fans will agree that Elden Ring is a pretty hardcore experience, thanks to difficult enemies, harder bosses, and no map for the open-world. Having to translate that to mobile sounds like a thankless task, but we’re interested in seeing how it goes.
Tencent, FromSoftware, and Bandai Namco have yet to comment on these rumours, so fans will have to take this news with a grain of salt. We’re not sure if the game can even be translated to mobile, but it will be a fascinating experience, especially once gameplay is shown.
Elden Ring is still a pretty huge game now, as fans of the difficult RPG are patiently waiting for more DLC to kick their heads in. FromSoftware did confirm that DLC is in development, but the news on what that entails has been pretty slim in recent months. We’re sure the devs are hard at work and the DLC could end up winning fans over, as FromSoftware DLC usually does.
Fans are optimistic about seeing Elden Ring DLC news this year, especially since the game’s Steam files were updated with DLC data. However, games with Steam data tend to get updated a ton before anything happens, so fans will continue waiting for official results.
