The Modern Warfare series features some of the most iconic multiplayer maps in the entire Call of Duty franchise and in Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward regularly adds classic maps from previous titles into the ever-expanding map pool.
Season 4 comes with plenty of new content, including a new battle pass that contains two new weapons. Along with this expansion of the arsenal on offer, fans are hoping the developer fixes a broken perk that’s not working as intended.
Continuing the trend of classic maps returning, a popular battlefield from Call of Duty 4 is on its way to Morden Warfare 2.
Showdown returns in Modern Warfare 2 Season 4
After several years out of the spotlight, Showdown will return as one of two 6v6 maps arriving in the latest seasonal update.
Although the return of Showdown is another piece of recycled content, fans are already giving it the seal of approval. “I don’t think we’ve seen this map return before, so it’s cool to see a different return for once,” comments one optimistic fan. Others were quick to notice that the map is a point of interest on Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah map, which may explain the decision behind its reappearance.
While some community members are excited by the idea of Showdown coming back, fellow players are concerned about potential layout changes being made to the map, which could impact the pace of play. “I wonder if they added an extra path or corner of something like they did with Crash in MW19?” asks one player.
With only a few days until Season 4 launches, it won’t be long before players get to take another trip down memory lane. Only time will tell if the remake manages to live up to the original.
