Following weeks of radio silence, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 developer Infinity Ward has shared more information on what’s to come before the full game releases on October 28.
During the finals of the Call of Duty League Championship, the developer unveiled information on the multiplayer beta in addition to the first look at one of the maps that players can play over the two weekends of early access.
Known as the Marina Bay Grand Prix, the map takes heavy inspiration from the Singapore Formula One street circuit and also features cars racing around while teams battle it out.
Call of Duty meets motorsport
Despite the short overview of the map showing parts of the pits burning, cars continue to fly around the track at breakneck speed. Based on the overview, there are plenty of long-range sightlines alongside lots of small buildings lending themselves to close-quarters chaos.
The appearance of Marina Bay Grand Prix isn’t a surprise. Recent leaks uncovered images and its name within the code of Warzone Mobile in addition to a wealth of other maps expected to arrive in multiplayer.

Having watched the overview, the lack of doors is hugely positive news. 2019’s Modern Warfare was the first Call of Duty game to add doors to buildings in a bid to innovate gameplay but the feature never struck a chord with fans preferring open doorways to improve the flow of maps.
So far, this map is the only one to receive official confirmation. As the clock ticks down to the opening beta weekend, there’s a high chance Infinity Ward will share more on what’s on offer for those with a code.
