Modern Warfare 3 players are demanding Sledgehammer Games to overhaul the BlackCell battle pass due to its inclusion of unattractive cosmetic items.
Introduced during the Modern Warfare 2 cycle to replace the premium battle pass bundle, many are expecting the developers and Activision to utilise the same system when Modern Warfare 3 launches.
Usually, the BlackCell battle pass contains a range of exclusive cosmetics for several Operators in addition to unique blueprints for weapons on the ever-expanding gun list. Instead of following the same formula from the previous game, fans are hoping that changes are made to the BlackCell in order to make the bundle more enticing.
To shed light on a potential overhaul to the Modern Warfare 3 BlackCell, user AlabastersBane took to Reddit claiming the current colour schemes aren't cutting it anymore.
The player says: "Don't get me wrong, some of the BlackCell skins do look nice, but for the other 98%... I'm hoping we see improved skins from their base instead of this '13-year-old with Photoshop' type stuff."
There are other fans in agreeance, too. Another adds: "Totally agree - hopefully the artists come up with a new seasonal theme rather than just the same s**t on different guns." The current BlackCell structure introduces a black and gold skin for the majority of standard battle pass content. Instead of adding new colour combinations each season, Activision has decided to stick with the same selection that's quickly growing stale.
Despite the calls for change, there are plenty of fans who don't share the same optimism for a potential BlackCell overhaul. One fan believes: "They won't [change BlackCell]. This is the easiest money they ever got."
The idea of paying for some exclusive cosmetics isn't the problematic issue in the case of the BlackCell battle pass. The recycling of colours to make all premium Operator skins look almost identical is where the problem lies. Let's hope Sledgehammer Games continues to acknowledge community feedback and tweaks the BlackCell to make it worth its price tag.
