Although the release of the heavily rumoured Modern Warfare 3 is still at least several months away, potential leaks surrounding the next game in the Call of Duty franchise are already starting to appear.
Following the launch of Season 4 Reloaded for Modern Warfare 2, data miners have allegedly gained access to an internal alpha of the unreleased game. One recent leak resulting from this has recently claimed that an in-game reveal could be on the cards for the series' next entry.
In addition to some new features, the latest batch of leaks also claim a few beloved aspects of previous Call of Duty titles are on their way back.
Modern Warfare 3 classic features leaked
Uncovered by Twitter user BobNetworkUK and summarised by content creator ModernWarzone, the leaks suggest that red dots will appear on the game's mini-map whenever an unsuppressed weapon is fired.
The return of more familiar mini-map furniture isn’t the only classic feature possibly set for a return in Modern Warfare 3. In the same leak, it’s suggested that the hugely popular Ninja perk will also be making a long-awaited return. In previous entries, Ninja has provided players with silenced footsteps, allowing them to stealthily flank behind enemy lines without alerting opponents much more easily.
Judging by the reaction to the leaks from community members, the features outlined would be popular inclusions in any future game. For example, one fan replied to ModernWarzone's Tweet: “Perks categorised onto gear is a risky change but at least they are trying to do something new. I’m genuinely looking forward to Modern Warfare 3.”
Of course, it’s important to take leaks like this with a grain of salt until Activision is ready to share more official information on what’s in store for 2023’s Call of Duty release. For now, the potential of a game that combines fan-favourite features with some small innovations is an exciting prospect, but it’s important to keep any expectations in check.
