Modern Warfare 3 players are discussing their hatred of crossover Operators ruining Call of Duty's aesthetic.
Thanks to the carry forward initiative, the majority of Modern Warfare 2 content will transfer over to Modern Warfare 3, meaning the likes of Homelander from The Boys and hip-hop artist Nicki Minaj will slide cancel their way around various maps and game modes.
Instead of Sledgehammer Games sticking with the more realistic mil-sim skins for each of the Operators, crossovers with the world of music, TV, and movies inject a breath of fresh air into the game. Before the servers are switched on, fans are wondering why there's so much animosity towards a new crossover when it hits the store.
In a bid to shed light on the hatred, user Affectionate-Foot802 took to Reddit asking: "Why do you hate crossover Operators?"
As expected, there are many Modern Warfare 3 fans who aren't the biggest fans of crossover Operators appearing in multiplayer. But, there's some degree of logic behind their reasoning. One player says: "I don't hate crossover Operators per se. It's just how obnoxiously loud that some of them are or just stupidly out of place. There's a middle ground to be had and they're failing on it."
Without some kind of compromise between the mil-sim style and the outlandish crossovers that appear in most seasons, it's understandable to see why some players are growing tired of the crossover Operators.
On the other hand, there are plenty of players who are fans of Call of Duty's collaborations. Another fan states: "I love these colourful Operators as they stand out in these fairly bland maps."
The trend of crossover Operators shows no signs of slowing down. The Sardaukar military force from the Dune movie is hitting stores on November 1, just before the campaign early access window opens. It's good news if you're a fan of Dune too. If you purchase the bundle, it will carry over into Modern Warfare 3 when the full game launches on November 10.
