From Skyrim and Fallout to Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3, as well as games like Elden Ring, we here at Gfinity cover an awful lot of mods, with all of them hopefully offering something that’ll make your latest playthrough of any of those games a bit more interesting.
This month has certainly delivered a strong selection, with everything from terrifyingly tough mechanised enemies to freshly brewed beer, and even Batman costumes having possibly arrived in your load order.
With this in mind, we thought it might be cool to highlight five of the best mods that we’ve featured over the course of this month. So, here we go…
5. The Witcher 3’s Geralt gets put on autopilot
Kicking things off this month is ‘Immersive Exploration’, which is the work of modder menschfeind13 and is perfect for those who’re still taking in the beauty of The Witcher 3’s next-gen update’s ray-traced environments.
By allowing you to easily activate auto-movement at a speed of your choice, this mod gives you the chance to kick back and relax while the white wolf strolls, jogs or runs through the lush fields of Skellige or the bustling streets of Novigrad. Just make sure he doesn’t run headfirst into a nest of drowners.
4. Skyrim’s fashionistas get a better look at their characters
Modder myztikrice’s ‘Show Player In Menus’ is one of those mods that can fly under the radar, but also ends up as a staple of everyone’s load order. While it’s more practical than peacocky, simply sliding the inventory menu into a better position to allow you to get a better look at your character, grabbing it is a good idea no matter what your playstyle might be.
After all, if you’re going to spend hours hunting down rare armours and tweaking your Dragonborn’s visage via Riften’s face sculptor, isn’t it useful to be able to gaze at your handiwork without having to mess around with the game’s free camera?
3. Fallout 4’s Commonwealth becomes a hotspot for pre-war Chinese bunkers
Even though the most recent entries in the Fallout series take place long after the nuclear war that turned the US into an irradiated wasteland, it’s always interesting to investigate something that’s been left undisturbed since the moment the bombs fell.
Modder SabutaiKhan’s ‘Chinese Remnants’ allows you to do just that, adding a number of bunkers filled with ghoulified Chinese soldiers to the map for you to find and explore. Linked together by a couple of quests, these underground hideouts should definitely reignite your curiosity for Fallout 4.
2. Skyrim’s Agent 47 comes for Grelod the Kind
Prolific modder JaySerpa always delivers something worth adding to your load order and their re-imagining of the quest that sees the Dragonborn take their first steps towards the Dark Brotherhood is no exception.
Their latest work, called ‘Innocence Lost - Quest Expansion’, provides you with a multitude of new Hitman-style ways to accomplish the goal of ending Grelod the Kind’s reign of terror over Honorhall Orphanage, including poisoning her wine and pushing her into the harbour. You can also just get her arrested if murder isn’t your thing.
With that, we’re down to just one victor. So, without further ado, here’s 2023’s first mod of the month:
1. Cyberpunk finally receives some interactive smart windows
How to top a killer (literally) overhaul of one of gaming’s most well-known quests? Well, with a mod which delivers something from Cyberpunk 2077’s pre-release marketing that didn’t quite make it into the final version of the game.
Modder NexusGuy999’s ‘E3 Smart Windows’ gives you the chance to jump out of bed each time dawn breaks in Night City and either read some news headlines or check how your stock is doing while you gaze out at the metropolis. That immersive sense of actually living in the future is arguably pretty central to Cyberpunk’s appeal and this mod is exactly the kind of thing that can take that sensation to the next level.
Regardless of whether you agree with these selections, make sure to follow us for in-depth coverage of loads more great mods over the course of 2023. You can also check out our mods of the month for November and December 2022.
