Monster Hunter Wilds’ latest Event Quest appears to be teasing more intense and complex encounters with the introduction of its first-ever Three-Target Hunts.

Fans are speculating that this could be Capcom’s way of laying the groundwork for future quest types in upcoming Title Updates, possibly making the game progressively more challenging.

Can We Hunt Three Monsters in One Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Yes, but for now, it’s limited to Event Quests. The quest titled “Three Tails Better Than None” tasks players with hunting down three Quematrices in Wounded Hollow, the game’s diegetically integrated Arena.

Despite the novelty, the quest isn’t especially difficult. It’s rated as a 4-Star Difficulty Hunt, far below an 8-Star Gore Magala quest.

As with most Monster Hunter titles, you're not up against all three monsters at once. At most, two Quematrices will be present in the arena, and once you take down one, the third makes its entrance.

There's TWO?!

I finished the quest in sub-ten minutes, so there's not much of a challenge here, aside from witnessing the debut of the Three-Target Hunt format in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Completing the Event Quest rewards you with a special Faux Felyne Alpha Headgear, which lets your hunter wear a Palico mask, essentially turning you into a human-sized Felyne.

Are There More ‘Three-Target Hunts’ in Monster Hunter Wilds?

As of now, Three-Target Hunts are exclusive to Event Quests. But this feels like a clear teaser from Capcom, hinting at more demanding content on the horizon. Difficulty has been a hot topic in the Monster Hunter community, and this seems like a calculated step toward addressing that.

Since the arrival of 8-Star Apex monsters, the game's difficulty has ramped up significantly, but veteran Hunters, as always, are hungry for more.

THREE?!

This could mean we’ll be seeing even more multi-monster quests in the future. Who knows? Maybe one day we'll face three 8-Star Arkvelds in a single hunt, and that might finally silence complaints about the game lacking challenge.

Looking ahead, the next update brings Lagiacrus back into the fold, offering even more content for Hunters eager to test their skills. Title Update 2 is set to release sometime this summer, and Capcom seems to be building anticipation by drip-feeding content, starting with this first-ever Three-Target Hunt Event Quest.
