Anyone who was gaming in 2009 will remember where they were when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 came out. It was an incredibly controversial entry that shocked everyone, especially the infamous “No Russian” level. Fans might be able to relive these memories whenever they want soon, as the game is reportedly coming to Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox Era reports that this beloved Call of Duty entry will be coming to Game Pass in March or April. Insider Gaming also corroborated the report, seemingly confirming that this classic shooter will be available to all Game Pass owners. This hasn’t been officially confirmed by Activision Blizzard yet, so fans should take the news with a pinch of salt.

Details on this version of Modern Warfare 2 are still unknown, as fans aren’t sure if it is the original Xbox 360 version or the remastered campaign that came out in 2020. Fans would be pretty happy with either version, though they might prefer the Xbox 360 port for the sake of online multiplayer. If the game does come to Xbox’s subscription service in a few months, we’ll probably find out soon.

Considering how beloved this shooter is by Call of Duty fans, adding it to Game Pass could increase subscribers for the service. We’ve already seen some of the more, ahem, modern games in the series added to Game Pass, so adding older titles people love would help. It might seem unfortunate to some, but nostalgia is one hell of a drug and we know how much people love this entry.

To this day, Modern Warfare 2 is still a game that fans revisit often. Even with the latest Modern Warfare reboot, fans seem to prefer the 2009 version for a number of reasons. Helping with that was how bad the recent Modern Warfare 3 was, giving fans one of the worst campaigns in Call of Duty history.
