Overwatch 2 fans have had the fun spoiled for them with the leaks confirming that Mauga will be revealed at BlizzCon 2023, becoming the game's latest Tank hero.
Talked about for years, Mauga had been featured in plenty of artwork leading up to his impending release at BlizzCon, Blizzard's massive yearly convention where they showcase what's next for their franchises.
The leak comes from Nintendo, an ironic twist of fate, with the Japanese company usually not one to make these kinds of mistakes. According to several users, a news notification on the Nintendo Switch's feed showed Mauga alongside the announcement that he'll become people on 3 November for an extended free weekend trial.
Recently, a new Control map set in Samoa was released, giving more validity to the fact that Mauga would soon complement its release.
As we've mentioned, Mauga isn't a new character in the Overwatch universe. He was first seen in promotional artwork depicting Baptiste's background all the way back in 2019.
Like many other characters, Overwatch 2 fans have had to wait patiently for the unveiling of Mauga, and it seems all they'll have to do now is tune in to BlizzCon to see it happen first-hand.
If it does end up happening it'll be interesting to see how he plays, as Mauga features a very bulky design carrying two massive Gatlin guns with him. Fans have jokingly said he'll be a less mobile Wrecking Ball, which wouldn't be too far from the truth just by looking at his design.
