It wasn’t that long ago when Palworld seemed like the most popular game around. At one point, the game was constantly dominating sales charts, thanks to its wacky premise of being “Pokemon with guns.” Like all fads, things cooled down for this game, though it was able to keep a loyal fanbase who played it endlessly.
While this won’t make the same numbers, it looks like this odd survival game might be back in the limelight. Thanks to a new crossover with Terraria, this unique title has made a pretty fun comeback. Even if this is a temporary thing, it could eventually lead to more fans picking the game up again.
Over the past 24 hours, it was reported that Palworld reached a peak of 122,512 concurrent players. That eventually went down to around 70,000 players, but that’s still fairly impressive for a game that many said reached its peak. Community manager and designer John "Bucky" Buckley also clapped back at fans who were calling this a “dead game.”
Palworld seemed like it was in big trouble after The Pokemon Company decided to sue for supposed plagiarism and copyright disputes. This led to the devs at Pocket Pair Inc. having to remove some features that were deemed too Pokemon-like. Naturally, fans hated how the bigger company sued Palworld, as it could have bad effects for the industry as a whole.
Since the game still has a fairly healthy fanbase, with new ones still coming, it looks like fans won’t have to worry about this quirky survival title. It seems like updates for the game won’t be stopping anytime soon, and the fact that it was Terraria, of all games, that made this a best seller again is kind of funny. Fans who want a 2D version of Minecraft with a bit more depth should also consider picking Terraria up.
