With Atlus remaking many of its beloved JRPGs, it’s no surprise that Persona 4 might soon receive the remake treatment. Singer Shihoko Hirata, the voice behind Persona 4’s iconic pop tunes, recently revealed that she was recording for an unannounced game in Tokyo. Fans of the series quickly speculated that this could be the long-rumored Persona 4 Remake they’ve been anticipating for years.

The singer shared snippets of the studio where she recorded on Instagram, which fans swiftly identified as MIT Studio — or Studio 2 — in Tokyo, the same location where many Persona soundtracks have been produced.

Fans also noticed that Hirata has been actively engaging with social media posts related to Persona 4, further fueling speculation that a reveal could be on the horizon in some form.

This is significant news for those eager for a Persona 4 Remake, especially following the massive success of Persona 3 Reload. Now that Metaphor: ReFantazio has launched to widespread acclaim, Atlus may have the bandwidth to focus on future projects — including a possible reimagining of Persona 4, which fans have already dubbed Persona 4: Rerun.

That said, this remains pure speculation and should be taken with a pinch of salt. Even Midori, a well-known and reliable Atlus leaker, stated last year that a Persona 4 Remake was unlikely in the near future, as Persona 6 was the studio’s main priority. However, plans can change. If Persona 6’s development is nearing completion, it’s possible that other teams at Atlus are already moving forward with additional projects — including a Persona 4 Remake.

Regardless, this discovery is exciting for long-starved Persona 4 fans, especially as the Persona 3 fanbase continues to be well-fed with P3 Reload and the upcoming Episode: Aigis expansion.

If the rumors prove true, we may soon be reunited with Inaba’s Scooby-Doo gang — diving into TVs once again, but this time with enhanced gameplay and visuals.
