Thousands of Pokemon Go players on the r/PokemonGo subreddit are shocked at this one newbie's collection of Shiny Pokemon.
User Hanglep posted his ridiculous collection of Shinies. We'll break down his entire collection in a list here:
- Shiny Gardevoir
- Shiny Onix
- Shiny Wailmer
- Shiny Wailord
- Shiny Kartana
- Shiny Gardevoir
- Shiny Duskclops
- Shiny Lapras
- Shiny Nincada
- Shiny Metapod
- Shiny Darmanitan
- Shiny Crobat
- Shiny Ninjask
- Shiny Tapu Lele
- Shiny Entei
- Shiny Mewtwo
- Shiny Wigglytuff
Shiny Entei, Tapu Lele, and Mewtwo are three hard-to-find legendaries and the fact that the trainer could capture shiny variants of all three is ridiculous.
However, what's even more impressive is the fact that the account was created on 30th March 2024. This means it took the trainer only 7 days at most to amass this ridiculous collection of Shiny Pokemon and hit Level 27.
Most players contribute two potential reasons as to why the player was able to rack up such a ridiculous number of rare shinies in just six days. The first is their location and the second is a theory about incentivisation that has been floating around for a while.
The lucky trainer was located in New York, well known as a dense hotspot for Pokemon. You'll find tons of Pokestops and Pokemon around the city, and even the toughest Raid Battles are a breeze because people are always there to complete those. This density of Pokemon helped the player reach Level 27 in just six days and might also be why they could run into so many shinies.
The second theory has some basis in anecdotal user experience, however, it's not confirmed by Niantic. Basically, if you're a new player or a trainer returning after a long hiatus, you'll experience a rate-up boost for rare legendaries and shiny Pokemon. Players claim that Niantic does this to get people hooked and increase user retention, but there's no concrete proof.
Regardless, this Shiny Pokemon haul is impressive enough to stand out even amongst rate-ups. Players on the subreddit were quick to both congratulate and curse him at the same time.
Shiny hunting is no easy task and very few trainers are blessed with the luck to encounter so many, let alone in their first week.
