Pokémon Scarlet and Violet received a lot of complaints, but they also got the usual criticisms associated with the franchise, like most of the battles being easy. Thankfully, it seems that the Indigo Disk DLC will give hardcore fans what they want, as a lot of battles have been described as incredibly challenging.
VGC previewed the game and noted that the battles are really hard, which might push fans to their limit. While the level scaling hasn’t been properly explained yet, the trainers they fought have move-sets and items often seen in the competitive scene.
While the preview of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disk DLC gave the testers powerful critters to use, they got stomped out. Even at Level 80, the enemies were able to beat them with a mix of powerful Pokémon and smart moves.
Apparently, the battles in this Indigo Disk DLC are there to help players prepare for the Blueberry Elite Four, which might mean more difficult battles. Obviously, this is a dream come true for many fans, but others might want to start grinding a bit in Scarlet and Violet.
Even before the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, fans have been asking for a hard difficulty in these games. Granted, some of the late-game trainers can provide a decent challenge, but most of the battles are pretty easy, usually boiling down to choosing the type-weakness.
Fans end up having to challenge themselves, which is why the Nuzlocke system was made. Those who partake in a Nuzlocke can only catch one Pokémon per Route, and it has to be the first one they encounter. Any Pokémon that faints also has to be released, to show that they are “dead.”
Of course, not every player wants to go through challenging battles in the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC. Thankfully, the DLC will be home to a number of Pokémon to catch, including every starter in the series so far.
