Now that we’re in an age of really powerful consoles, fans everywhere are wondering when Red Dead Redemption 2 will get its enhanced re-release. There’s been a vocal part of the fanbase that’s been wanting to play this open-world classic in 60FPS and 4K. While nothing has been confirmed, a tease from one of the game’s actors has fans excited.
Rob Wiethoff, who voices John Marston in the Red Dead Redemption games, was streaming the game (via the Red Dead subreddit) and teased something big. Wiethoff said he had some really exciting news that couldn’t be revealed yet, although he did say that something about it would come out this week.
Because he was playing the game, fans are assuming it has to be Red Dead-related, but since it’s way too soon for the third installment, many believe it could be a long-requested Red Dead Redemption 2 remaster. While the game is playable on PS5 and Xbox Series, these are still last-gen versions that haven’t been enhanced to their full potential.
Granted, it still looks great now, but fans are greedy and want a bit more.
With GTA 6 coming out next year, Rockstar Games needs something that can make some money this year. Fans of the company would flock to a re-release of RDR2 for the PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2. Enhanced re-releases might sound lazy, but it did work for titles like Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn.
It will be interesting to see if a Red Dead Redemption 2 re-release will add even more to sales, especially since this game was already a success. Then again, fans everywhere are flocking to GTA 5 as we speak, so anything can happen. Rockstar Games are masters of the open-world craft, so we’re sure fans won’t mind replaying this masterpiece.
