Remedy Entertainment has signed an agreement to work with Tencent for a new upcoming project. These two companies will be working together to push a new free-to-play co-op shooter title, called Vanguard. The news was confirmed as part of a Remedy Entertainment investor call.
So far, this game's title is still a codename and is entirely unrelated to the latest Call of Duty entry. As an international released title, Remedy Entertainment will handle publishing and development for this game in the West outside "select Asian markets" while Tencent will localize and publish the game in these regions.

Vanguard will also be the first entry to the free-to-play market for Remedy Entertainment.
Speaking about the new project, Remedy Entertainment CEO Tero Virtala had this to say about the new free-to-play venture:
“Vanguard marks Remedy’s first entry into Games-as-a-Service business model, executed by our top tier team of free-to-play experts. We are building something new and exciting for co-operative multiplayer space, on top of Remedy’s strengths. Expanding our capabilities to take on publishing responsibilities is the next step in the development of our company. We are excited for this long-term partnership with Tencent and with confidence can say that it is an excellent fit in supporting Vanguard’s ambitious plans. Vanguard is a global opportunity, and Tencent can support Remedy internationally, and lead the operations in Asia and the mobile markets.”
Remedy Entertainment is best known for their story-focused shooter titles such as Max Payne, Control, and even Alan Wake in some way. However, their upcoming games, such as CrossfireX, Vanguard, and Condor, will be their first salvo of online multiplayer titles to the masses. For now, we'll have to wait for more details about Vanguard to know more how it'll be different from the other games.
