With the remake of Resident Evil 4 arriving at the end of last week, it’s a great time to be a horror game buff in search of something to play with the lights off and scare yourself silly.
Some of these fearless fans have simply set the game to the highest difficulty possible, picked out their favourite weapon and dived into the terrifying action, but others are already experimenting with modding the game, just as they did with its demo.
While the efforts of these hardcore horror lovers have already brought the likes of John Wick star Keanu Reeves, Thomas the Tank Engine and even some pandas to Resi 4, if you’re desperately waiting for the Ada Wong Separate Ways content to be added to the game, a new mod might be worth taking a look at.
Fancy playing through the Resident Evil 4 Remake as one of the series’ most infamous bad guys?
The mod in question is called ‘Wesker replacing Leon and Glasses’ and is the work of modder Kira5z. Some of their previous projects have brought some of Resi 4’s outfits to Resident Evil 2’s remake and added topless Kylo Ren to Knights of the Old Republic II.
This time, they’ve replicated their previous efforts to make Albert Wesker a playable protagonist in Capcom’s latest remake, revealing: “After what I did with RE2, I’d be disappointed if I didn't bring Wesker back for the 4th reimagining, especially since he's in the game already.”
This seemingly turned out to be a little more difficult than they’d planned, with Kira5z admitting that “countless hours of troubleshooting” and re-learning mechanics went into replacing Leon with the ex-captain of the Raccoon City Police Department's S.T.A.R.S unit.
Thankfully, they’ve managed to release a version that, while suffering from some slightly unnatural-looking facial animations, will seemingly otherwise work pretty seamlessly, even boasting a pair of killer shades.
Kira5z also looks to have plenty of plans to add to their version of Albert in the future, suggesting that they might include alternative outfits for him and some gloves so his hands don’t get a bit cold.
