While those willing to mod the Sims have gotten up to some crazy things over the years, the vanilla versions of the games arguably offer just as much in the way of wacky glitches and hilarious occurrences.
Whether it’s a wedding gone terribly wrong, a werewolf graduation ceremony or a family of Keanu Reeves clones, things just keep getting weirder with each new update.
That said, it seems unlikely that the addition of high schools to The Sims 4 had anything to do with one strange phenomenon encountered recently by a player on Reddit, which saw a starved sim return from the dead to offer some emotional support.
This Sims player was hungry for some wholesome hugs
This paranormal event is the subject of a thread in the subreddit r/thesims, which began with a post from the player responsible for the ghostly sim’s untimely demise, user Naive_Equal7553, who posted an image of the deceased sim hugging their living offspring and captioned it: “My sim died of starvation and came back as a ghost to hug his daughter, that's so cute.”
The feelings of their fellow Sims stans towards this terrible tragedy were mixed, with ironically named user Coffin_Nail angrily asking: “Why did he die of starvation, God?”, leading Naive_Equal7553 to explain: “Since the new update my game keeps lagging and weirdly enough it doesn’t show me when my sims are getting hungry (anymore), so I didn’t even notice he was starving.”
User interestingnotions also chose to moralise, saying: “How (are) you gonna bring a baby into this world and let the daddy die?” and Sty_Walk adding: “You are so cruel... classic Sims player so it's fine.”
On the other hand, some users were able to see the sweeter side of the sordid affair, with cityofangels7x saying: “I envy her so much”, FellafromPrague admitting: “Bro, I’m going to cry” and External_Candy2262 adding: “This looks like a scene from a Pixar movie.”
User derbycityrat exemplified the confused emotions present in the thread, saying: “Well, God damn, that’s the saddest and sweetest thing I’ve ever seen from the Sims.”
Meanwhile, user TheKey32 was kind enough to offer some advice that might help Naive_Equal7553 bring the Sim back from the dead permanently, urging them to “remove the Slice of Life mod because it's broken” and to revive the sim using an ambrosia meal.
